THE WATCHERS
A chilling new play for a chilling new world
TEASER:
The Time is the immediate future.
Performing arts are now restricted and carefully monitored by
the State.
We are in a darkened, boarded up theater.
Only a ghost light illuminates the stage.
A stage door, slightly ajar, stands idly UL.
A variety of stage cubes and blocks are piled and scattered on
the stage floor.
A woman in pants and a pale blue blouse sits stiffly on a stage
cube Center. Her hands and legs are tied, and a bucket is
upside down over her head and face.
Pacing in front of her is a uniformed female officer, tensely
gripping a riding crop in her gloved hands..
The prisoner is flanked by two subordinate uniformed
troopers, their faces covered in black masks that reveal only
their eyes and mouths.
The play begins with a harrowing interrogation.
